These cuffs were created in 2004, by Gail Montour, a Kanien’kehaka (Mohawk), from Kahnawake, Quebec, Canada. The Mohawk Council of Kahnawake commissioned Montour to make these cuffs for the 300th commemoration of the 1704 raid on Deerfield, Massachusetts, by French and Native American soldiers. The commenoration celebrated the continued friendship between the communities of Deerfield and Kahnawake.
