About this item

Erastus Clapp (1771-1851) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, served for a little over a year during the War of 1812 (1812-1815), but suffered enough from rheumatism that Captain Nathan Frary granted Clapp a one-year disenrollment from the military on the advice of Surgeon’s Mate Dr. Stephen W. Williams.
