About this item

Ebenezer Wells (1691-1758) made out his detailed will one year before he died, leaving one half of his personal estate and one half of his real estate to his wife, Abigail (Barnard) Wells (1692-1772). The couple had no children had no children. and this might be why Mr. Wells left his wife more than the standard “widow’s thirds” of his estate. He remembered, also, the children of his brothers, leaving them both land and cash. He further specified that money from his estate be provided for “a good Silver tankard” for the church.
