About this item

The distribution of the personal estate of Ebenezer Wells (1730-1783) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, who had inherited a house and property from his uncle Ebenezer (1691-1758), awarded the widow a substantial share and accorded each child, six boys and two girls, equal portions, according to the customs of the day. The two girls received produce, in addition to household goods, but no livestock. Mr. Wells’ real estate is not included in this distribution.
