About this item

When this sugar box was produced, sugar (brown or white) was purchased as a cone-shaped “loaf”, which had to be cut into chunks with sugar “nippers”, and then ground for use.  This box not only kept the ground sugar clean and dry, but its graceful ornamentation also hinted at the sophistication and refinement of its owner.
