George Fuller (1822-1884) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, attained a national reputation as a painter. He studied art with Henry Kirke Brown in Albany, New York, and maintained studios in both Boston, Massachusetts, and New York in the 1840s and 1850s. After the death of his father in 1859, he assumed the responsibilities of the family farm in Deerfield while continuing to paint. His work can be viewed at the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, the New York Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., and the Art Institute of Chicago.
