About this item

In 1831, 47-year-old Lucinda Nims (1784-1857) inherited her father’s estate “so long as she shall remain unmarried.” Between this date and the death of her mother in 1843, Lucinda drew up this document to divide the estate among her chosen heirs: her mother, her brothers, and her sisters’ children. Lucinda outlived her two brothers and her mother.
