Artist George Fuller (1822-1884) of Deerfield, Massachusetts, and New York City, depicts here men raking hay in his family’s field in Deerfield.  The men seen to the left in the painting load the dry hay onto a wagon, which will take it to a barn for storage until needed as feed.
